MEet Sarah

Sarah Weinberg is a proud product of Texas public schools, growing up in San Antonio as the youngest of six kids. That foundation instilled in her a deep, lifelong commitment to public education — one that has only grown stronger through decades of community service, nonprofit leadership, and now three years serving as your elected Trustee for Dallas ISD District 2.

A Record of Results

Since taking office, Sarah has worked every day to deliver on the promise she made to District 2 families: that every child deserves a world-class education, and that taxpayers deserve a responsible, accountable steward of their dollars.

Under her leadership, Dallas ISD has made significant academic gains — most District 2 schools now earn A or B ratings from the state, with zero failing schools. Teacher retention has improved markedly, with Dallas ISD now retaining highly effective educators at rates that outpace the state average and paying teachers more than neighboring districts. Students have gained expanded access to counselors, mental health services, and innovative career pathways.

Sarah was proud to support a once-in-a-generation $6.2 billion bond package — passed unanimously by the board — that will rebuild aging schools, eliminate portable classrooms, and modernize learning environments across District 2, with minimal impact on property tax bills. She has also championed partnerships with nonprofits to bring additional resources directly into District 2 classrooms and schools, and helped ensure stable, effective leadership at the district level to keep progress moving forward.

On the fiscal side, Sarah has been a consistent voice for taxpayer responsibility. Dallas ISD has cut its tax rate eight years in a row, earned a clean zero-finding financial audit, and maintained a AAA credit rating — ensuring more dollars flow to students rather than administrative overhead.

Roots in the Community

Long before she was elected, Sarah was showing up for District 2. She and her family have tutored students in math and literacy at District 2 schools, volunteered broadly throughout DISD, and built relationships across the community that inform her work on the board every day.

Her professional background as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) — combined with her experience as Chief Strategy Officer for United to Learn, a nonprofit connecting Dallas ISD schools to public-private resources — gives her a unique ability to bridge financial rigor with educational vision.

Sarah is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a proud alumna of the Leadership ISD Dallas Class of 2014, where she received both the Community Fellow of the Year Award and SMU's Budd Center Community Builder Award.

Looking Ahead

Sarah is running for re-election because the work isn't finished. With a major bond package on the ballot, a new five-year strategic plan underway, and ongoing work to improve student outcomes in literacy, math, and career readiness, District 2 needs a trustee who knows these schools, knows these families, and is ready to keep building from day one of a second term.
